WoW Warlock Guide
In this World of Warcraft Guide I address the Pros of playing a Warlock character. Warlocks are the typical nightmarish soul stealing, demon summoning destructive spell casters you will typically see in stories and fairytales. Warlocks are gifted with large amounts of life and are highly effective at attacking multiple targets at once as well as having high DPS abilities for PvP.
Warlocks are bread to kill and each of their different trees improves on their methods of killing. The most popular build, affliction, uses DoT (damage over time) attacks to attack multiple targets at once as well as replenish life and mana. Warlocks have a high survivability because of the large life supplies and their life stealing abilities and can outlast either the Priest of Mage. Warlocks can also summon pets to their bidding and at level 50 you get a very powerful tank warrior pet that also cause high levels of damage.
Professions
As with all spell-casters tailoring is the way to go due to the high level items you can make at level 70 which are much better than any of the other items you can find and it is also more cost effective. I have explained tailoring before so I am going to avoid going over the same stuff again. For your second profession alchemy is always a popular choice and becoming more popular with the WoTLK expansion due to more powerful potions becoming available.
Abilities:
The 3 skill trees available to Warlocks are Affliction, Demonology and Destruction. The Warlock is a carefully engineered killing machine and each tree increases a different aspect from survivability, mass killing and PvP killing.

Affliction
Affliction is the Warlocks leveling build but is also highly effective for a short while in end game raids. The basics of an affliction Warlock are run through a large group of mobs and draining their life. It is preferable to have a healer with you because it means you can pull larger mobs and not have to worry about your health.
Demonology
Demonology is your survivability build giving you massive increases in life and your solo capabilities. At level 50 you are also given a pseudo-warrior pet capable of tanking and dealing large amounts of damage. Demonology is well rounded and highly recommended for beginners.
Destruction
Destruction is the be all end all of DPS and is great for end game raids and instances but it is only really effective in groups. Destruction has very low mana efficiency and as such is terrible for leveling and disastrous when you are not in a group to back you up when you run out of mana.
Leveling a Warlock is quite easy as they have a large arsenal at their disposal and in a kill or be kill world warlocks kill the most effectively. Warlocks have a life stealing and mana stealing ability that allows them to mow through enemies as well as a pet that can tank when required.
Affliction is the most effective Warlock build as it gives power to your life tap and dark pact abilities which feed you mana and HP while leveling. This means less down time which equals more kills thus more XP.
Conclusion
As far as character classes go Warlocks are a killing machine, killing is what they do, it’s just a matter of deciding how you want to kill, large groups, small groups, other characters, and it’s totally up to you. Warlocks are effective level grinders as utilizing the life tap and dark pact skills to constantly replenish life and mana. Afflictions are the most recommended and popular talent build as it is powerful in raids, level grinding and the Arena.
